The 2022 flood. The 1974 flood reportedly came to the floorboards. Flood mitigation would supposedly take 1m off a 1974 flood. As the 2022 flood stopped 20cm from the floorboards, it was a big flood. In the first photo, my shade house is completely under. The second is a view towards my neighbours. In September 2022, the flats in the distance are still abandoned. All the plants in the third photo died – as did a great many others. Inside the shade house. Saw-horses in the clothes’ line. Two of the three washing machines that sailed around with a saw-horse perched in a cactus.

2020: I have not seen the big python for some time. though it is mid Spring.

Mind you, I was pretty rude to make him move from the top of the dead bromeliad clump which I had already been ripping and tearing for an hour.

Not sure if this is the same one. He turned up yesterday. I’ve seen lots of pythons and their shed skins since 1986 but not often in the daytime. I got a bit worried at this point with his trying to go through one of the plant covers used to thwart scrub turkeys.

I had visions of having to call animal rescue but he backed out nicely.

He was relentless about getting back under the house.

He is getting altogether too bold. I’ve found him sunning himself near the bananas several times.

That’s the stump of the old book pine where I found the big one living when I was tearing out the broms.

Perhaps he thinks he is home or it’s the family home or a likely place to find a rat.
